REGISTER AS A MARSHAL VOLUNTEER
Marshals, the largest group of volunteers, work on the course to assist the players and spectators. This includes: spotting balls on the fairway, watching for errant shots and providing gallery control to keep play proceeding smoothly. They also assist the spectators to have the optimal view of play and enjoyment of the competition. Marshals work full day shifts on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Some knowledge of golf is desirable, but not necessary. Walking is involved for some assignments.
MARSHAL TEAM POSITIONS
Walking Marshal - Walking Marshals are assigned to a specific, high profile group of golfers for all 18 holes of their round. Walking Marshals assist hole marshals with crowd control of large galleries and guiding players and caddies at major crossings between green and tee. Days Needed: Thursday - Sunday
Hole 1-18 Leader Marshal – Stationed at the tee-box, marshals are assigned to a specific Hole (1-18) where you will be responsible for leading a team of university student volunteers, maintaining crowd control while players hit tee shots, guiding players and caddies from the previous hole to the next, monitoring cart movement on cart paths and assisting with the evacuation of players during inclement weather delays or whenever deemed necessary. Must be able to stand for long periods. Days Needed: Thursday - Sunday
Mobile Device Task Force - Volunteers will work with the public to understand the mobile device policies and procedures and how they apply. Responsibilities will include answering questions and directing spectators to mobile zones where they will be allowed to use their mobile devices. Volunteers need to have good people skills, while implementing such policies and procedures.
